Overview
The Auditing page gives you a log of activity carried out on the system — configuration changes, user actions, compliance events, and more. Every entry is timestamped and attributed to a user, giving you an audit trail for compliance, investigation, and governance purposes.
To access it, go to Settings > Advanced > Auditing.
Search
Use the search controls along the top of the page to filter the audit log. At a minimum, set a start and end date, then click Search.
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Start date | The start of the date range to search within. |
| End date | The end of the date range to search within. |
| Category | Filters the log by the type of audit entry. Options are: All, Info, Warning, Error, Database, and Compliance. |
| Search | Runs the search using the selected criteria and populates the results table. |
Advanced search
Click the Advanced search button next to the Search button to expand additional filter options.
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| User | Filter the log to activity carried out by a specific user. |
| Area | Filter by the part of MaxContact where the activity took place. For example, the Inbound Blacklist will show audit logs for activity carried out on the Inbound Deny List page. |
| Change type | Filter by the type of change that was made. Note. When a change type is selected, a second dropdown appears to the right allowing you to narrow the filter further. For example, selecting User shows a list of all users to choose from. |
Search results table
Matching entries are displayed in the results table. Each row represents one audited event.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Audit category | An icon indicating the type of audit entry. Four icons are used: Information, Compliance, Database Change, and Warning. |
| Date and time | The date and time the event was recorded. |
| User | The username of the person who carried out the action. |
| Area | The part of MaxContact where the action took place. |
| Description | A brief summary of what happened during the event. |
| Compliance | Shows whether the event involved a compliance-related change. A compliance icon is displayed if it did; the cell is blank if not. Any row with a compliance change is highlighted with red text to make it easy to identify. |
Viewing event detail
Click on any row in the results table to expand it and view the full detail of that event. The expanded row shows:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Changed area | The specific area of MaxContact where the change was made. |
| Date and time | The exact date and time the change took place. |
| Name | The name of the item that was changed — for example, the name of the list, campaign, or user affected. |
| Description | A more detailed description of the change that was made. |
| Compliance warning | Where applicable, a description of the compliance implication of the change. Only shown if the event triggered a compliance flag. |
Selecting a row also updates the right-hand panel with additional detail about the changes made during that event.
