Max CSV Folder Manager

The Folder Manager installer is attached to the bottom of this guide.

Please note there are 3 versions of the CSV folder manager one for 'pre MaxContact Version 4.0.1', one for MaxContact version 4.0.1 to 4.1.3 and one for anyone whose portal is version 4.1.4 onwards (you can see which version you are on via the login page of MaxContact).

Overview

The CSV folder manager is a windows desktop application which is designed to allow the automatic uploading of leads to MaxContact. The application will watch for CSV files in a specified folder on the machine and when a CSV file is placed in the folder, the application will send the leads to MaxContact.

Configuration

Before you can use the CSV folder manager to upload data, you must first configure some settings. To do this, click the cog icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen:

You will now be presented with the settings form:

The following settings will need to be configured before use:

Import Leads Settings;

  • Select Directory button - You need to select the folder you will be dropping your CSV files into here (or use the default).
  • Web Services URL – This will be the URL of the MaxContact portal followed by /webservices. For example, https://yourcompanyname.maxcontact.com/webservices
  • Directory – This is the directory that the application will look in for CSV files. The default will be 'C:\Max\CsvCollector'. However you can change this to whichever directory suits your needs by clicking 'Select Directory'.

 Auth Details;

  • Username/Password – These are the login credentials of the user that will be used to authenticate the upload. You will need to ensure that this user has the relevant permissions to upload data with the API.
  • Mapping Name – This is the name of the API import mapping which is used to map columns in the CSV to fields in the MaxContact system.

Once these have been configured, click the “Save Settings” button. The application will then attempt to authenticate with the web service using the provided credentials. Upon successful authentication, you will be notified. You will also be notified if the application is unable to authenticate and prompted to re-enter your details.

Usage

Once your settings have been saved, you will notice that a 'Bulk Upload' directory has been created inside the directory you have chosen.

In order for the application to begin looking in the directories, you must first click the 'Start' button.

Bulk Upload

Inside the 'BulkUpload' folder, you will notice that there is a folder with the same name as your default mapping. In order to specify the mapping with which you wish to import data, you must place the CSV file inside the folder with the name of your desired mapping.

You will need to ensure you have a data table set up that matches the headers of the CSVs you are importing using this method.

If my root directory for the application is 'C:\Max\CsvCollector' and my mapping is called 'ImportMapping', I would place the file in 'C:\Max\CsvCollector\BulkUpload\ImportMapping'.

The application will then attempt to upload the data via the Import API.

Upload Status

The grid in the centre of the application’s main window will show the status of each upload attempt, including any error responses from the API.

The CSV files for each attempted upload can also be found in 'BulkUploads\Uploads' allowing you to look at any previous upload attempts.
